Part 1: My New Shop

I moved here about six years ago and turned the my carport into a shop but I need more room now. There is a block building (24×24) on my property but years before a tree fell though the roof. Nobody repaired it so it sat for years in the elements. It was also over run with vines and it had trash in it. I decided to burn the inside old wood and trash so I could clean it out. Then I repaired the damaged block around the top and poured concrete in the block for strength. This is going to b...

Part 2: Roof Framing

Well, I got my ceiling joists and rafters up now (4/12 pitch). Didn’t go with trusses because I wanted to do everything myself. The rafters are 2×6 and on two foot centers. The strips for the metal roof are going to be 2×4’s. The height of the ceiling is 10 foot and the outside measures 24×24. I just washed the walls to get ready for painting. I’m leaving the rafter tails exposed and painting them.

Part 3: Dried In (almost)

I got the slats for the roof up and the metal for the roof is in. Just installed the metal roof all by myself in one day ( that was a job )! Wind was a factor I would lean the sheets up and the wind would blow them down. Still have to put up trim work and more bracing for the roof. Don’t know what kind of wood I’m putting up on the gable ends yet. As for the windows and the doors I still working on that too. I think it could use some paint soon.
