Wood mosaic grout help...... - 7 replies

I plan to try and make a wood mosaic similar to what Robin Tucker has done on here. What is the best grout to use for filling in the spaces in between the individual pieces of wood? Thanks!

if using a 3/16” blade with the stabilizer, any problem cutting hardwoods up to 6” thick ? Is it ok to leave the stabilizer on the saw all the time, or will prolonged use quickly wear out the bearing on it?

I plan to make a mirror frame out of red oak with brass powder inlayed with CA glue. I normally use Old Masters oil based polyurethane to finish my wood. However, since I do not want my brass to discolor or tarnish, will the polyurethane finish alone keep it from tarnishing? If not, should I apply the brass lacquer first, then the polyurethane ...
