« Part 5: Completed Workbench Part 6 of Shop series no next part

My next shop project was suppose to be my Band Saw but that was pretty boring to talk about. I did the basic tuning, new cooling block, adjusted guides. I have yet to make the mobile base but that will happen when I need to move it around.

What have been working on is a hand tool till. I decided I wanted to do more advanced joinery and having my tool spread out was a real pain. I will be adding more at time goes on but here it is at this point.
The till holds my #8, #7, #6, #5, # 4 and LA Block plane as well as ¼”, ½”, ¾” & 1” chisels.

The till is mount 5 degrees off but I have rabbet cut to the individual plane with a thumb screws to apply pressure and hold flat to the till. There is a t nut recessed on the inside of the rabbet to hold the thumb screw.

Slick idea, good job. I’m going to have to keep this in mind as I put my shop together.

Very nice! I have a chisel rack that I built a little while back, but I definitely need a rack for my hand planes and a saw till. I like the vertical storage you used (instead of the series of horizontal shelves I was thinking of using). I think I might go for something more like yours now.

Have your say...
