Both lie-Nielsen(picture 1&2) and Lee Valley(picture 3) sell auriou’s rasps. I bought one from each company just to see what the difference is between the handles those companies provide with the rasps. While both handles are comfortable, the maple handle from Lie-Nielsen is a joy to hold. I didn’t think there would be much of a difference, but the handles from Lee Valley don’t have quite the same level of fit and finish and they are a little more tiring to use. Lie-Ni...

I got my copy of Grandpa’s Workshop by Maurice Pommier in the mail a week or two ago and I immediately sat down to check it out. Every book I’ve gotten from Lost Art Press has been of the highest quality and this book was no exception. First the cover. The images are bright and inviting while still being robust. When I was in college I wanted to start building things out of wood. So I went to my library (Pickler Memorial at Truman State University) and this is what I found. It was actually a series of three books “Joinery”, “Shaping, Veneering, and Finishing”, and “FurnitureMaking.” It seemed like an older series, but it was all they had so I checked them out.
