Tablesaw Boom - Worthy accessory or hinderance?? - 16 replies

I have for some time now been considering and applying my shop time to two aspects of working wood, dust collection and saw safety. I have recently installed DC into the shop, why I never made this part of my hobby a priority sooner I don’t know. However, now that I have installed it I have declared war on shop dust. My other concer...

Who signs their projects? - 18 replies

When I build a project I always sign and date the project in some discreet location. This is not through vanity or a desire to be known, just that after relocatioing some project or piece of furniture I built some time ago I have noticed the date and scribblings I made at the time. I recall some years ago an old church from the 17th century ...

Woodsmith DVD series 6 - 33 replies

Ok, so I’m a fan of the Woodsmith TV show, I think the guys on there are a hoot, cheesy, yes but good fun and make the idea of woodworking fun and highlight the fact not every tool in the book is not always required for projects. (Thanks Norm, watching you has cost me a bomb lol) Anyways, I have just orderd the new series 6 DVD. We do...

Jet 2800VS Drill Press - 11 replies

http://www.mwmachinery.co.uk/Piller-Drills/Jet-JDP-2800VS-Pillar-Drill.aspx As with most glittery and twinkling tool gizmos which catch my eye from time to time and I seriously considering purchasing this one. Despite my interest I have some reservations on several aspects of the machine. I am therefore hoping someone with intimate or a...

18G Brad Nailer problem.......Solution?? - 22 replies

I have for some time noticed my 18G Brad Nailer has failed to fire a nail from time to time. However the other night I had cause to use it. I found only a couple of nails actually fired into the timber. I suspected a blockage, bent nail in the chamber, so I released the front mechanism providing access to the firing chamber. Nothing was evident...

Scribe to fit conundrum - 6 replies

Morning fellahs – As part of the kitchen refit I have built a breakfast bar and intend to use a single large wood veneer panel matching the cabinets to cover the back of the kitchen base units. Stacked dado sets, 6" & 8" what's the difference? - 12 replies

Has anybody found any great difference in the performance of a 6” dado set over and 8” version or vise versa? I realise the 6” version is primarily to deal with under powered saws but would a 6” dado set perform just as well on a 3HP cabinet saw for instance. Thanks in advance. David
