Boards & Beams has just brought in over 50 new black walnut wood slabs into our warehouse located in Fairfield NJ. Most of these slabs are from hurricane Sandy and have been air drying since they have fallen. Love the contrast of the walnut with the sapwood. Grab your piece of history today!

I just started this build for a client. We originally started with 6/4 sweet gum. That did not work as the wood was heavily warped. We switched to a walnut that is fairly flat, but also only 4/4. Originally on of the 45’s on the desk was going to be a waterfall joint with a hidden spline. Instead I will most like craft the 45, but back it with metal to strengthen the joint. The other side of the desk will be supported by a metal leg. I have not decided what I will seal it with. I am ope...

Hey Folks,
Just wanted to let any fellow woodworkers know that we’ve been focused on buying and cutting crotch sections of walnut & finally have them coming out of the kiln every 3-4 months. We have about 150 slabs in our Wimberley, TX located between Austin and San Marcos, TX.
Part of what we offer is a focus on bookmatch sets although we certainly have a lot of singles. These sections of slabs are typically 18”-24” wide. We cut everything at 10/4. Lengt...

After all this time waiting, our wood slabs are due to arrive this afternoon! They reached Port Newark early last week and because it was our first container… of course it was stopped by customs delaying our shipment. But the wait is finally over and we are so excited to receive our first container. Feel free to stop in next week to take a look at what came in! :)

A few weeks ago I went on a trip to Costa Rica in search of some really unique wood. What I found was just amazing! The forestry was brilliant with radiant colors and huge timbers. Along my journey I encountered Sura wood, Teak, Almendro, Ipe, Laurel, Guapinol, and Cedro Macho. I purchased a ton of this wood and am bringing it back to my shop to sell. Check on my website to see when these exotic woods arrive. Also keep a look out we will be posting future projects using this wood. :)ht...

Unorthodox WoodWorking Tools….

Glamdring, Summer Awards and, Left Overs
....and so it ‘just is’. All good stories must have a place of start….then some middle ground….and then comes the ‘whats all left over’ or maybe I should say, the ‘left overs’.
And as such, it seems fitting that since this is about ‘hobbit holes in my-world’....I should bring in one famous player, who working with me helped get this story going back in the early days of summer. That bein...
