Over the summer one of my instrument building customers told me he bought a restaurant. It seemed out of the blue but I wished him well.
Then I realized that he was not telling me this coincidentally. Rather, he wanted the restaurant’s interior to pay homage to the exotic instrument woods he uses to build guitars.
I invited him out to the warehouse to take a walk and see if something inspires him.

Those of you who follow the blog on twitter know that I have taken a couple of weekends off from the slant front desk to complete work on a home improvement project that has been on my to-do list for most of the year. At the beginning of this year I laid hardwood floors throughout the house and have been steadily (but slowly) working on the trim work.

It has been a while but I finally finished the living room.The last of the trim has been installed.
The baseboard proved to be more challenging than I had hoped for.The house over the last 100+ years has settled so every bit had to be scribed and planed to fit.
There are still pieces to build for the room but at least it is finished.
I plan on adding a period correct light to finish it off.
