Here is TheAggie’s shop video for the Challenge 02 contest. I just hit the highlights of my shop, not all the little nuts and bolts laying around.

Tools #1: Festool Domino and Dowelmax Comparison on Simple Joints - VIDEO

05-17-2007 08:12 PM by mot | 37 comments »

Hi Folks, There is alot of Domino support and bashing, as well as Dowelmax support and bashing on various woodworking forums. Typically the owners of the tools talk about them like they are just about the second coming. The detractors talk about their excessive (relative) price. The Domino “won’t pay for itself.” The Dowelmax is no better at 250 bucks than a beadlock is at 50 bucks. Usually stuff like that. If you read close enough or care, many of the supporters an...

Quarter Size Cherry Quilt Chests #3: Leigh FMT Jig - Part 2

05-16-2007 09:38 AM by David | 8 comments »

Well, this is the second of the LEIGH FMT Jig videos. Again please excuse the ameteur quality. This is just my way of sharing a fun day in the shop while pushing my digital envelope, so to say. Things have been a bit hectic here so it was good to get some dedicated time in the shop. Many thanks to my wife for allowing this indulgance! I thought a video post would be fun to explore since I have learned so much from my fellow woodworkers via digital imagery. I am not sure what I am going to ...

Quarter Size Cherry Quilt Chests #2: Leigh FMT Jig - Part 1

05-16-2007 08:37 AM by David | 11 comments »

Had a great day today working in the shop. I have gotten behind on my schedule for the cherry quilt chests because of some family isuues and increased work load. Today was a warm and sunny day in Portland and it was a pleasure to get out in the shop and make some cherry sawdust! I thought it would be fun to make a small video to share the experience. The original video was too long so I made a two part episode. I figured you guys would be the only ones that could actually sit and watch a rout...

Festool MFT 1080 as Tablesaw Outfeed

05-16-2007 04:24 AM by mot | 11 comments »

Hi Folks, I did a little podcast on how I use the Festool MFT1080 as my tablesaw outfeed. After watching the video, I think I have more questions than I answered, but if you want to see something specific, drop me a line. I hope to do some more podcasts on some of my setup and how I do things. I’m not a professional woodworker, so don’t expect David Marks. However, it might just be the way you do things in your basement shop. Cheers! ...here’s the link to m...

LJTV #1: Shop Tour

05-14-2007 06:07 AM by scottb | 22 comments »

Our buddy Darryl says he has the Woodworking Dungeon – perhaps now he’ll agree that I really do… with spiders and miles of cobwebs barely overhead for a nice festive touch. One upshot to this contest was forcing myself to clean up the space a bit (Ignore all the dust and spiderwebs. I do). I also found 3 six-in-one screwdrivers that were slated to have their handles replaced with new new wooden ones… That puts versions 4-6 on the to do list, without spening any $$...

Kreg Pocket Screw Jig

05-04-2007 09:05 AM by David | 32 comments »

Well, things have been busy at home and at work. I finally got back in the shop today to work on a cherry display shelf for some close friends in Central Oregon. I am using my Kreg Pocket Screw Jig for the joinery. I thought it would be fun to share my day with a small video. Hope you can bear with me as I show you this remarkable jig. I also have a Kreg Foreman, a semi-automatic production machine, but thought the small portable jig would be best for this project. I use this jig a lot i...

Thorsen Table Challenge #10: Making pegs my way !

05-01-2007 05:35 AM by Dick, & Barb Cain | 22 comments »

Today I tried making pegs for the false shallow holes. I had alot of trouble doing it the way the plan instructed. I would get chip out when carving the facets on the plugs. I’m using Walnut, maybe Ebony wouldn’t do this because it’s more dense. So I setup my disk sander miter to 30 degrees, & sanded my 3/8” stock to a point. Then I cut to the hole depth, & tapped them in with hammer with a dab of glue. Here’s a short video of how I used my disk san...
