Dinosaurs & Dragons #1: Test runs

So some friends are leaving town permanently for Vancouver and we are getting together this weekend with them and their two boys, one older and the other younger than The Dragon. I’ve had it in mind to make a Dino-Train set so I decided to make a couple of dinos for the boys as going away presents. Took about three hours to make the two and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out as tests. I’ll do them again and I think they will be better from what I learned ...

Squirrel Ferris-Wheel feeder

Hello All, Here’s a couple of photo’s on the upcoming Ferris-Wheel Feeder for the Squirrels. This set of eight seats will be attached to a rotating ring with hangers for the seats to rotate around. The idea is once the squirrel gets on then they will rotate to the bottom. If they climb up the seats then they’ll continue to rotate down to the bottom of the revolving wheel. And here is the first set. —Please note the boy added for scale— Among the lessons leaned: The way the grain goes is more important than maximizing the wood. The camel’s leg broke but glued together well, would not have broke had I cut it right. Axel holes in the center of the leg don’t leave enough room for hooks and eyes. Use smaller hooks and eyes Now on to the next something.

Toy Giveaway Day Christmas 2007

Today Dec 1, 2007 was the toy giveaway day for the Mason-Dixon Woodworkers Club Toy Workshop. We make toys all year long and we pass them out on the first Sat in December. This is the 13 yr that it has been done. It’s grown is scope but we are still looking for people that want to volunteer to make toys. We meet on every Wednesday of the year. Our first day for the 2008 toy making in this coming Wednesday. We had about 18 charities that showed up today. We had over 1200 toys to di...

All, Just wanted to take a minute to share a short blurb about a man that has inspired me for my entire life and a project that he just completed for my daughter. My grandfather worked as a machinist for many years and in his retirement turned to doll house building ( my grandmother got sick of him tearing the house apart and rebuilding it.. lol) So after buying one of those kits he realized they were not worth it for the price.
