Building Closet Doors, Appliques, HVLP Spraying, Installing...

06-07-2020 02:40 PM by WoodshopTherapy | 2 comments »

There’s a lot of work packed into this 21 minute video I just published. This was a custom closet door project and I’m showing the process starting at the lumber yard to the end where you see the customer reaction. It’s almost the perfect length of video to make a 30 minute TV show… if HGTV would be interested in some craftsmanship. Here’s what’s covered if you’re interested in a part or all of it:- selecting lumber in the lumber yard- rail and s...

Curiosity made me do it #1: Grizzly Paint Colors

03-25-2019 02:00 AM by CaptainKlutz | 1 comment »

Was curious if I could find a Grizzly touch up paint color that would match a Geetech jointer I own. Since OWWm.org site does catalog information on non-US made wood working tools, touch up colors can be hard to find for off brand, now antique Taiwan made wood working tools. Ended up digging out this paint color summary in Grizzly parts catalog that I thought might be nice to share: Grizzly PPAINT-1 – N/S GRIZZLY GREEN G1023SGrizzly PPAINT-1A – N/S GRIZZLY GREEN G1023S AE...

No more brushing Lacquer

09-20-2018 08:42 PM by Woodwrecker | 11 comments »

My good friend Barry Reiter, who is an “elder” in our woodworkers guild (CFWG.ORG), and a retired chemical engineer put on a presentation last week on spraying lacquer. His depth of knowledge and experience made the presentation very enjoyable and I learned a lot.I hope there is a part 2 and maybe 3, because the hour allotted just wasn’t long enough. Anyway, I got the bug for trying out what I learned, and the next day in the shop I took out my little detail HVLP 4oz spray...

Big cabinet for the new home #6: Its done! Wrap up, "Once you go black......"

08-03-2018 04:51 PM by Lalen | 6 comments »

Spread over three months, this thing is finally done. Quite the adventure and I learned a lot. Just wanted to share some final in-use pictures and thank those who gave input. One bit of feedback early on led me to the change of the doors from 6 top to bottom to 12 with a small upper and a lower door. I also put 3 hinges on the lower door to ensure it is well supported over time. (middle one is off center so it won’t interfere with the shelf.) For those who expressed interest in ...

Shop Organization - Or Lack Of

07-10-2017 08:04 AM by Cathie Zimmerman | 11 comments »

About a year and a half ago I retired as a director of public safety. I’d served in the industry for 17 years and was ready for something different. I was absolutely ecstatic that my wife supported me retiring “early.” So, I leapt head first into the rabbit hole of this new hobby of mind: woodworking. Little by little I’ve found fantastic deals on the tools I needed (ok wanted lol). I can proudly say I have just about every power tool one could save up for. They are...

ATTN OKLAHOMA WOODWORKERS!!

05-10-2017 02:49 PM by Jace McDaniel | 0 comments »

So I noticed after looking on Facebook that there were no woodworking guilds in Oklahoma that I could fine so I’ve made a Facebook page titled woodworkers Guild of Oklahoma basically just because a lot of other states have a guild and my hopes are to build some networking and make some relationships with some other woodworkers locally because to be quite honest I don’t have but one friend who is a woodworker and he can’t do anything right now because of a personal injury. ...
