Dave's Workshop #8: My Table Saw Jigs

01-20-2015 08:48 PM by Dave Rutan | 2 comments »

I was recently asked about the jigs I use on my Skil table saw, so I thought I’d add this blog entry about the ones I’ve built and use. [Above and below] First up is my crosscut sled. This is the first jig I built for my table saw. It’s down and dirty with no frills added, no hold down t-tracks or anything. If I need a stop block I just clamp it to the back of the jig. The red strip on either side of the blade is a ‘replaceable’ strip I put in after the f...

The router table has always been a pain in my arse and was never truly good for routing anything well. When I milled all the pieces for my Greene and Greene styl...

Tools #1: Cheapo Skil band saw - works good

03-08-2010 08:43 PM by Lisa Chan | 9 comments »

I have limited amount of space at the moment, and I’m also poaching some real estate in the shared garage with my landlord for the wood working toys. It’s sort of damp, cramped, and a bit of a nightmare. I couldn’t realistically expect that things wouldn’t get stolen out of there either. That meant that it didn’t make a lot of sense to save up a ton of money and invest in the nicest largest tools that I would never want to part with. I would like to someday ha...
