Bench RestoreThis build was a result of a challenge from another you-tuber named Opa Koster. I really liked the results and wanted to share the pictures and video here on lumberjocks. The bench was bought from a local antique store and was painted with some ugly green paint over the wood and cast iron. I had quite a task to remove that paint and primer from the cast iron. I liked the back cast iron piece but I envisioned a different project for it. So it has been saved it for a later project ... Making Hell's Pizza Cutter - Feat. Green BeetleIn this video, I create a handle for “Hell’s Pizza Cutter” which was summoned to me by Steve aka Green Beetle. I reach deep into my woodworking background (thanks Dad) to fashion it out of Ebony and Purduk and sand it to 2000 grit for a glass like surface. And this unique blade will ultimately be auctioned to my favorite charity – Make-A-Wish Foundation. Pens with no Lathe or Drill PressIn this You-Tube video, I challenge myself to making a pen kit without a lathe or a drill press. But, let me be honest, I just don’t have those tools. The slim-line pen kits came from Rockler and they were on sale over the holiday season. The wood that was used is Cocobolo. I hope you enjoy this video and make time to be creative. here is the link to the video: – https://youtu.be/arWuNuZQBik Installing a router tableIn this You Tube video https://youtu.be/7ETTpbTIpgo- , I’m exchanging out an OSB sheet for plywood to install a homemade router table. Mallet 102Everyone makes a mallet and here is mine complete with a build video. I had a lot of fun making it and even learned a few things. The mallet head is red oak and the handle is cherry wood. I liked this project so much that I’m already making two more. One for a You Tube contest prize and one for my father. Here is the link for the video: https://youtu.be/UdRAvt9KXRo Jimi"s ChalkboardRecently, I built a rather large storage unit for my workshop. Once it was built I noticed that there was a big face that could be used as a back drop for my You-Tube videos. I had several ideas but a chalkboard won the day. Now it can be used to draw diagrams, write comments or anything that is interesting. Here is the link to my You-Tube video, (https://youtu.be/RS3n_1miBtg) The material list: One – sheet of plywood (cut to size) One – sheet of OSB (cut to size an... how to sharpenIn this you-tube Video https://youtu.be/noTv8vTeENM, I explore the question, “How to sharpen a new chisel? I understand that there are many different strategies for this task but as a novice creating this video allowed me to focus on the keys points. The process that is demonstrated is broken down into three phases. First: An Oil Stone is used and can be found for about twenty dollars on Amazon as “Stanley 16-050 Sharpening System.” The stone itself must first be flattened and to do t... |
