In case any of you turners are looking for a chuck to use on your lathe….This one is at a great price…plus it includes 2 jaws and a wood center screw. I have the supernova II on my big lathe…and now one of these on my Jet mini….the jaws are interchangeable and now I don’t have to keep switching chucks and jaws so much….....and the price was better then the grizzly or the PSI chucks….all of which have their plus’s and minus’s…..but m...

Some of you have asked if I would give a discount to the Lumber Jocks community. The answer is Yes. I have been adding new products but I don’ t have much on yet. Also I will be adding an artist corner there so you guys can sell your produces for free. I will let you know when I get that module up.
If you go to my website and purchase something in the wood department at the check out there will be a coupon window. Just type in LJ. That will give you an automatic 10% off your entire p...

Some people have expressed interest on how much items go for and how to price your projects. I don’t know much about this, but I hooked up with my local farmer’s market and set up some of my projects for sale. It was rather chilly for a summer day here, and not many people turned out, but in 4 hours I did manage to sell two things. Also I had a lot of people picking up my work and feeling them, opening them, and lots of great comments on workmanship wood choices etc. I learned a l...

There is an ongoing debate about whether Lumberjocks should be the focus of a marketing plan by professional woodworkers. There are quite a few professionals on this site now, all of us trying to make a living.
I define “professional” as someone that makes all, or most of their income from their woodworking and craft work. Selling something once in a while from your hobby work really has nothing in common with “having” to sell something every day to buy food and s...

Aginst my better judgment, someone convinced me to set up at a local festival-craft show. The last couple of weeks we have been working hard getting ready for the show at Riverfest at Leavenworth. I was thinking that after the show we would be able to slow down and mellow out a little but, I think not. I got so many orders for signs that the next few weeks will be a bit hectic again. Well not “so many” orders, I think it was 10 or 11 but some of them want more then one sign. I ...

Hi,
All of us probably checkout the Friday sales at the Tool Bin. But did you know that Amazon has an RSS feed that has super deals? Only problem is that it is an “Everything” feed.
I came across a page today that describes how to take the Amazon rss feed and then use a free service from Feed Sifter to filter the Amazon feed for the stuff you want. All you need to do is paste in the URL in the Amazon rss feed and then enter some filter terms “tool, power” “...

I think I will be heading to Springfield, MO on Saturday for the Grizzly Tent Sale. As long as I can convince the wife not to kick me out afterwards that is. I’m still looking for a 20” planer, and I think I’ll go with the Grizzly.
Anyone else going?
Anyone else ever been that would have some advice for us newbies? What time to get there is my biggest question? I am going for one very specific item and do not want to miss out on it. Sale is from 8am to 3pm.

Hi,
Hopefully there are some festool addicts with CT’s who’d like to expand their dust collection activities, or maybe just some regular people (that was a joke) who use a decent shop vacuum as their dust collector.
Shop-Vac has a price reduction for their Sawdust Collection System. It has a bunch of stuff:
http://www.shopvac.com/detail.asp?id=393
(8) 36” clear PVC collection tubes
(6) Vacuum gates
(5) Tube couplings
(3) 45° elbows
(4) Tee-y fittings
