08-05-2009 10:44 AM by Mark Duncan | 17 comments »

These are the pictures after I completely took this saw apart, lubed it, removed the majority of the rust, repainted, and reassembled. All i have to do now is to finish hooking up the switch and this saw will be ready for a top.

From Rust to Lust, can I bring it back? #1: The Day I got it

02-02-2012 04:50 PM by GlennsGrandson | 4 comments »

I have already posted in forums on this topic but I had a suggestion that this may be a good idea to update my restoration status as I go. So I found this Rockwell/Delta 37-220 6” Jointer on CL the other day, asking $150, I drove 40 miles to look at it. Talked him down to $100 rather easily being it was missing the table out lock knob, the back door for the enclosed baseis also missing, as well as the beds being coated in rust, and the end of the cord has cardboard and electrical tap...

Final Entry - Achieved Bliss

06-06-2012 02:26 PM by GlennsGrandson | 3 comments »

Knives took longer than I was told to sharpen, personally I think they lost them for a while because when I called them they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Anyhow, I got them about 10 days ago and finally had all day yesterday to sit down with it, make sure everything was level and set all the blades. It sure felt good to see chips sliding down the shoot after several hours that I’ve put into this thing. I like it so much that I don’t even like getting it...

Unisaw 34-450 for $300

05-27-2011 01:39 AM by cranesgonewild | 19 comments »

Yup, you read that correctly.I’ve been on a search for a while now trying to find a half decent table or cabinet saw. I’ve jumped back and forth from used on Kijiji to a new Ridgid 4512, back to used, then I was going to buy a new Grizzly G0690, right up until Monday. That’s when I got the call. My brother in law sent me a link Monday morning to a Rockwell/Delta Unisaw 34-450 on Kijiji that was posted late the night before. It was a really nice looking saw with no damage ...

From Rust to Lust, can I bring it back? #11: These bearings cost HOW MUCH?!

05-09-2012 05:22 PM by GlennsGrandson | 12 comments »

I took the bearings in to a local auto store to check on replaceing them (Bearing #:8502-k and 8503-k). They want $48 a piece for them! Wowzas. I found them online after S&H for about $63 total. I tihnk I’ll do that. But then I am getting antsy and the company told me they are a special order part so it’d probably be 3 weeks before they even ship! So my dilema is that I want to cut now, but don’t want to spend $100. So I was talking to my dad and he suggested if they wer...

Rockwell/Delta Homecraft 10" Bandsaw Restoration #1: The Beginning

03-27-2012 12:00 PM by Tyrone D | 12 comments »

Hello,I found the best find ever in my life. I found a Delta Homecraft 10” Bandsaw in an alleyway cast away near a “free” sign. I thought to myself, “That bandsaw deserves better and I took it home. There she is in her miskept beauty. On of the things that really pecks my brain is the stand. It says, “Property of CC Wakefield & Co. Ltd.” on it. Charles Cheers Wakefield is the founder of C.C.Wakefield & Co(Now known as Castrol). What’s weird is ...

From Rust to Lust, can I bring it back? #8: When Disaster Strikes...We improvise.

04-28-2012 05:09 PM by GlennsGrandson | 5 comments »

Wow, what an afternoon yesterday. I’m finally getting to see things shape up when I was removing the masking tape. Then I get to the tape that was covering the PATENT sticker that I couldn’t remove… I’d had the masking tape on too long and when I was removing the tape, along came the sticker… So naturally I was upset…very upset. It’s not like this little sticker would at all affect how my machine works but.. My Grandpa has two main hobbies, woo...

Rockwell Saw - Jointer Combination #1: 1970's Rockwell Table Saw Jointer Combination

07-30-2009 11:53 AM by Mark Duncan | 3 comments »

My dad bought this saw for $100 after we saw the ad on Craigslist.Since then i have had to adjust the fence, lube it, and put a new blade in it and it sounds like brand new.I cleaned the table off by using a wire brush for my drill and sanded the top with wet/dry sandpaper soaked in mineral spirits. But there is still some spots i missed. I was working on it until 11 PM outside underneath a dust to dawn light. So i suppose that’s an excuse. My next project for it is to build an outfeed ...

Shop Tools #1: Would you have passed it up?

05-20-2007 01:04 AM by WayneC | 16 comments »

My son wanted to get up this morning and go to some garage sales. I’ve been gone all week working and thought it would be a good idea to spend some time with him and his sister today. We happened across this drill press at a garage sale and I tried, but failed to pass it up. I have a fairly new Rigid Drill press with a Rockler drill press table and it works great for me. I thought long and hard about buying or not buying it. My biggest issue is space. This one has some addition...

Looking for Rockwell Bandsaw Manual

09-12-2012 09:16 AM by Rogstad | 6 comments »

I recently was given an old bandsaw from a friend of a friend (awesome!). It didn’t come with an owner’s manual. Does anyone know where to find a manual for a Rockwell Bandsaw Model 25-20C. Would love to know more how to tune it up and see a parts diagram, etc. Thanks!
