Hybrid Shop….I use what will get a task done….doesn’t always involve hand tools, nor always power tools…usually a blend of the two..so…when building these drawers, I have been using both a router table and hand chopped ways.. Thursday was about a 3 hour tour…to get ONE drawer into the clamps…and another to get it’s handle installed.. Drawer #3 would like a handle, please. Laid out the locations for the 2 bolts ( in pencil) and then drill...

Needed to sharpen a few items, too….spurs on the Stanley 45 were bad...This one needed sharpened up….the other one? Only reached to be flush with the edge of the skate….replaced it with a spare from the Stanley 45’s case…and sharpened one of the un-sharpened lobes….NOW the plane can score 2 lines across, so I can plough a dado, or two.. One other item needing work…I have a WR #62…was getting DULL, area under the blade had filled up with &#...

Drawer #1 came out of the clamps, and didn’t fly apart…good start. Test fit into the case.. And..that was as far as it went in…we have ways.. Planed the high points down a bit…try again.. While I was at it..I added a screw to the back corners… Counter sunk, of course…last of the first stash of Ash was hauled to the shop…after which Old Murphy was fired..Drawer #5 needed two sides milled for length and width.. Going to be a few of these Drawer Building blogs….each has it’s own set of issues….First off, need a few parts milled up….to see how far I can get….with what is left of the lumber stash…so.. We have a few blanks for drawer fronts….need a few sides.. 7 out of the 10 I needed…still a couple fronts short… Bring another plank to the shop. Even milled backs for the top 2 drawers….that need to be quite a bit thinner than the sid...

08-09-2021 01:03 PM by bandit571 | 2 comments »

One thing lead to another…was almost as bad as herding cats…not quite, but close…Drawer dividers kept sliding in and out usually when I was adding a clamp to that exact spot…..kept the mallet handy, to “resolve” any disputes That thin section of sliding dovetail? both front ones had cracked, and needed glued back in place..more clamp Then, along the front, where the floor board resides in the rebate….bead of glue was added in the rebate, then...
