Started work on this today. City living has been different and fun, but it also has some drawbacks. I recently completed this pergola shown here in its mostly completed state.I’m happy with the way it turned out, but having gone through the experience, there are some things I would do differently. The legs are 4×4 treated fir wrapped in re-sawn cedar. I should have just used solid cedar posts and come up with a different way of achieving a similar look. Pergola #1: The hard stuff is done

I should have made a few more updates to the project. I have been working on it constantly (which means over the weekend when I can fit it in) over the last 2 months. Since this is my first major project, let me give you a brief recap of the project and the lessons learned so far… there are many. I purchased all the lumber and then let it dry for a couple weeks in the garage. Lesson learned: I really have to put some wieght on PT wood as it dried. I got some crazy bowing and twist...

I finalized the design, and am getting ready to build. Here is what I have so far. I will be sure to take some photos during the journey and update this posting later in the summer.
