Woodworking on a Half-Shoestring #56: Table Saw Adjustments and Miter Saw Station

08-28-2015 01:10 AM by retired_guru | 5 comments »

Just a quick update on several issues that have been forcing all of my attention. Hitachi C10FL Table Saw IssuesI mentioned earlier that the saw had been neglected for a while and so there was a lot of cleaning, adjusting and correcting to so. Tonight I managed to resolve some of the vibration and noise issues when running it. When I previously adjusted the blade direction to be parallel to the left miter slot, I didn’t pay attention to the back trunnion support’s relationship ...

( Less Than ) Ultimate Miter Saw Station #2: Dust Collection Bag

05-19-2014 04:32 PM by pintodeluxe | 10 comments »

I already have tool-activated dust collection on my miter saw, however I wanted to add a dust collection bag for passive dust collection as well. ----- First I built a frame from flexible fiberglass rods. Mine were repurposed from a child’s play tent. I think PVC pipe, or a metal frame would work just as well. -----Next I picked up some slick black bag fabric, and sewed a bag to fit the frame. In the rear of the collection bag, I made a passage for the vacuum hose. -----To keep du...

Well, after wrestling with boards at my miter saw on my last project I decided I needed some improvements. This is what I came up with. It is the “Less Than Ultimate” Miter Station.----- It was inspired by the Ultimate Miter Saw Station in the June 2010 issue of Woodworkers Journal. built a plywood base to support the tables, and topped it with a Melamine shelf. I made the plywood box 5” tall, so it would have some beam s...

06-29-2013 04:36 AM by MT_Stringer | 4 comments »

My next part of the garage makeover is to build a miter saw station. I bought the plans from Ron Paulk and studied them over and over and watched his videos on building his work bench. So, I finally used Mikey’s Sketch pad to design my version of the miter saw station. Here is my plan. Sorry there is not a lot of detail in my plan but here is the jist of it. Build two cabinets that will be used for storing power tools and larger jigs and leave room for short cut offs 24 i...

Router & Miter Work Station #1: The Design

09-29-2010 07:49 PM by MrVitaminP | 6 comments »

Recently I decided that my existing miter saw station wasn’t ideal. It is a mobile station and is fairly stable given that it is light and easy to move. But, in truth I rarely, if ever, move it. So, the fact that it is mobile has meant very little. What has mattered is that it is small, too small. Cutting long pieces on it can be a bit of a headache. This was enough of a push to start a new project. Looking around I have found plenty of inspiration. Using this I came up with a few de...
