MADE IN U.S.A. #1: Lathes

I’ve been looking at large lathes the last few years and would eventually like to get one. I prefer those made in U.S.A but am finding it difficult to find one. Some same made in U.S.A. but upon further correspondence I find that the steel comes from Asia but assembled here. I don’t know if the US policy has changed as to what determines that title. The government site shows an older version (think it is 1995). I contacted Oneway and they assured me their lathes are made in Canada...

There are a few of us in LJ’s who are owners of the Harbor Frieght Lathes. My last posting was more than 2 weeks ago? Seems like yesterday. Have you experienced any difficulties with your lathe? How would you compare it to other laths you have experience using? What was the reason you bought your lathes? I have a small budget, and the features compared to the price were really good. My latest journey has taken me not far from my hometown. I had the opportunity to speak with Kevin Clay of Oneway Mtg, which is located in Stratford, Ontario. The HistoryOneway Mtg, which is owned by Kevin’s father, began as a contract machine shop. One day they received an order for a chuck.
