Kerfmaker stop block. Repeatable PERFECT dados in the middle of your piece without ever measuring.

04-03-2013 04:49 AM by JSB | 3 comments »

Building my first kerfmaker has opened up an awesome door in my shop. I have used it for quite a few projects and think it is one of the most simple, useful, and easy jigs to make. I have taken the same approach with stop blocks lately. With a kerfmaker stop block you can make a perfect halflap or dado joint in the middle of your work piece without ever measuring. Here’s a link to the article on my site with two videos showing it. Precision is so easy! http://jayscustomcreations...

Video: Kerfmaker follow up

02-05-2013 10:16 PM by JSB | 3 comments »

If for whatever reason your new Kerfmaker produces either too tight of a joint or too lose of a joint the adjustment is super easy! EDIT: in the few hours since this video has been on youtube I have gotten more negative response and messages than positive. I understand that if cut correctly your joint should be nice and snug. The simple truth is somewhere along the process of my larger kerfmaker I input the same error not once but twice. I have no problem sharing my mistakes. Apparently th...

5 Minute kerfmaker - how does it work

07-30-2012 07:17 PM by George_SA | 5 comments »

EDIT 12 Feb 2018The Kerfmaker can also be used to make Box Joints. See the Easy Box joint project and the Easy Box Joints - How To blog for more details I ran into a problem while making my new box joint jig BJ2. My kerfmaker KM1 does not open wide enough for the kerf that I need to cut. What to do? OK (sigh) This project will have to put on hold while I make a bigger kerfmaker :-( Then a flash of inspiration hit me After fiddeling with the kerfmaker and getting it right sometime...

My Shop #2: Kerfmaker--Table Saw Set-up

09-26-2011 07:55 PM by Kent Shepherd | 13 comments »

There has been much discussion on the Bridge City Kerfmaker, but I didn’t find where it was used on a table saw without using a sled with a stop. I am sure I just missed it, but here is my version of the set-up. The Kerfmaker references off a stop on a fence, which works very well for a fence on a radial arm saw or table saw sled. But using the table saw fence to cut slots for my box bottoms and lids, I discovered there was not reference point for the Kerfmaker. I made a simple block...

Disposable KerfMaker

06-14-2011 08:35 AM by rance | 32 comments »

Well, yes, the Kerf Maker is a very clever jig. I have a different take on its manufacture. I see a reason to have several, NO, Wait… Why not make them DISPOSABLE? :) I had a need to use one today so why not make one. Here it is:  I used a stick of about 1/2” square pine. Yeah, Pine(or is that Poplar?). And some double sided tape. Cut the stick in half. (I’m kinda protective of my tape. Can ya tell?)  Then stick both halves together with the tape. &n...

Danish beauty moves to South Africa

She actually came quite some time ago. It was love at first sight for me and I wanted it to be more than just a fling. I was after a permanent relationship but how could I be sure? What about the culture shock? It must be very hard to give up a comfortable life in the culture rich Old World and contemplate an uncertain future in a little Third world country at the very bottom of darkest Africa; strange people speaking strange languages living strange lives, wide open spaces with dangerous ...

How to use a Kerfmaker (trying to help out!) Blog.

09-21-2010 09:14 PM by mafe | 45 comments »

How to use a KerfmakerOk, many asked me this question, and I have seen it again and again on LJ. If you need to find out how to make one, you can see my Kerfmaker 'Brass'n wood'. Another fun gadget is the tenonmarker: I’ll try to explain, as well as I can, feel free to ask questions if I do not make myself clear (I’m only human): Collect what is needed, in this case a base stock and two thinner side stocks, and of course a Kerfmaker...
