Incra Double Dovetail Project #1: Prep Work - creating the laminated stock

10-05-2011 11:32 PM by SPHinTampa | 4 comments »

I have gotten a few questions (actually 3) from folk about to how create the Incra Double Dovetails Joints such as the one in this project: I will not be making a box in this blog. But a really good friend saw this box and asked if I could make a 14” x 19” serving tray in the same style. Maureen has been a huge help to my wife and I so I was happy to get a chance to make something for her. Obviously, first place to start is to get an Incra Jig System. I have the old 1...

08-23-2011 05:51 AM by Lance | 4 comments »

Well LJ’s it’s TIME!!!! I’ve been waiting for the heat to go away but I guess it’s still August and it looks like it’s not going anywhere. I need to install a couple 110V outlets before I really start knocking out some projects but I can’t wait anymore!!! I’ve had a couple shop furniture projects on the top of my “to-do” list like the Ultimate Miter Station, the Torsion Assembly Out Feed Table, Planer Table but now with the addition of ...

Machinist Toolcart #8: Drawers: Part I

08-08-2011 03:22 AM by PurpLev | 4 comments »

I’ve been sort of stuck with this project once it was time to get to the drawers mostly because for lack of material. I wanted to keep all the drawers made of same material and not pick and choose from what I could find at hand, and the only material that I have at ~1/2” thickness range that would make a good fit is some QS oak boards mostly 3 1/2 foot long: I ran calculations and found that If I went with my desired drawer depth of 14” I will not have enough material...

07-31-2011 06:42 PM by Lance | 5 comments »

So I was doing my normal search on CL in the 3 cities I live closest to like I do almost every night. Well I remembered I’m going to Wichita Tuesday for work why not look there so I did, nothing came of it so I was board and just typed in Table Saw, I already have one but you never know what might pop up. Good thing I did!!!! The INCRA miter gauge is what I wanted! So I emailed asking if he’d sell it w/o the saw, $60 INCRA 1000SE I’ll pick it up Tuesday if nothing is b...

Setting Up Shop #2: Xmas in July

07-11-2011 09:21 AM by DonnyBahama | 3 comments »

For several years, now, I’ve been hauling this stuff with me every time we moved. It spent the past 3 years in a storage locker – I just couldn’t bring myself to part with it (and now, boy am I glad!) The other day, I got to wondering just what exactly I had in those boxes… so I brought them into the living room and spread them all out. When my wife got up, I was grinning from ear to ear like a kid at xmas. Although the rails aren’t shown, I have a comp...

Hi guys! yesterday arrived 6 boxes 4 from rockler and 2 from incra. we organized a comunity buy between 7 woodworkers, some profesionals, some hobbist, we took advantage of 15% rockler discount and buying al together was a save of USD140 aprox in shipping and handling charges, compared to buying each of us separated. There was a lot of things… they arrived to my office (we are an internet software developing company) so people looked at me with strange faces :D. luckily I had a small...

Equipping the Shop #3: 1961 Craftsman RAS with added crosscut stop rail

04-17-2011 06:43 PM by Ocelot | 21 comments »

Finally, I’ve pulled the photos from my camera. I neglected to photograph it as I built it, but here it is in finished form. It gives me 8’ of stop range for precisely measured crosscuts. I can use it for through cuts as well as crosscut dados. The extension table top and fence are made of a partial sheet of 18mm (3/4”) oak veneer plywood that I’ve had laying around for 10 years or so. The legs are of ordinary 2×4 stud material. There is no finish on it...
