One More Guitar #4: Prepping the top, back, and rosette

10-11-2020 11:21 PM by Craftsman on the lake | 3 comments »

The past couple of days I prepared the top, and back and began making the soundhole rosette. Making a guitar is sort of like building a machine. But in this case you don’t buy the parts and assemble them. You make the parts first, then when all the pieces are made you can assemble them. I’m at the point where a number of parts are in the process of being made together on a rotating basis. You can see the short video here or click the graphic below.

10-02-2020 04:51 PM by Jerry | 8 comments »

My customer Pete received his cabinet a couple of days ago, he was kind enough to send pictures of the receiver installed in the cabinet. Since I already posted the cabinet by itself as a project previously, I didn’t want to post it as a project again.

Tap & Die Box build #6: The making of a lid

09-25-2020 11:51 PM by bandit571 | 2 comments »

Well, the clamps came off… Handsome, ain’t they? Clean up of the box first…then I can start on the lid.. Top and bottom edges needed leveled..Millers Falls No. 15 took care of that…Then, smoothed the sides a bit I tried the WoodRiver 62….was getting some tearout…so, used this Stanley No. 3….seemed to work much better..Before I set the box aside, I set it down on the lid blank….mooshed it around until things lined up..traced around the...

08-24-2020 08:29 PM by John Hoinville | 0 comments »

My daughter wanted to make a beer pong table for her boyfriend’s 21st birthday. The design goals were: The height and size of the table had to be close to regulation size Inlay cardboard box cutouts that he has collected of his favorite beer (hey no judging here!
