Shop stuff #161: Roubo vise completed

06-06-2019 04:07 PM by JimDaddyO | 0 comments »

I built and installed the anti-racking device for the vise. I went kind of old school on it. It was easier than I thought. A couple of mortises, some holes and away we go. Now that the vise is functional it will soon be time to get into the final details of getting it all glued up and completed.

Shop stuff #159: The Roubo bench's vise chop

05-28-2019 01:21 AM by JimDaddyO | 0 comments »

Busy times around here. Not much time making or editing though. It always seems that spring brings more things to do than time to do them in. I did finally get around to edit one though. I go through the process of figuring out and making the chop for the vise. Not quite a complete vise yet but I didn’t want to drag the video out too long. It is complete and that will be featured in the next one. Naturally, I go through some detail in the build. A friend has called me the “...

05-24-2019 12:43 AM by CaptainKlutz | 1 comment »

There are hundreds of threads with folks asking about used tool pricing. Getting tired of posting same information over and over in threads, so decided to list all here:What is Great price on used tool? What is Good price on used tool? What is Fair price on a used tool? All these are hard to answer. Let’s discuss some areas that impact tool pricing. Condition:Condition is important. Every tool is unique in the use/abuse, maintenance, and/or refurbishment; that defines the cond...

Curiosity made me do it #1: Grizzly Paint Colors

03-25-2019 02:00 AM by CaptainKlutz | 1 comment »

Was curious if I could find a Grizzly touch up paint color that would match a Geetech jointer I own. Since OWWm.org site does catalog information on non-US made wood working tools, touch up colors can be hard to find for off brand, now antique Taiwan made wood working tools. Ended up digging out this paint color summary in Grizzly parts catalog that I thought might be nice to share: Grizzly PPAINT-1 – N/S GRIZZLY GREEN G1023SGrizzly PPAINT-1A – N/S GRIZZLY GREEN G1023S AE...

Model Build #2 : The Hummer #1: The Chassis

03-25-2019 12:09 AM by Jason1974 | 18 comments »

Gents, so I decided to start another project. I had a huge chuck of cherry on my wood carts so I decided to mill it down and make something with it. Haven’t decided what other woods to use but I think I’m going to make the wheels out of walnut for the tyres and maple for the rims. I also have a small chunk of bloodwood I would like to incorporate into the build. Maybe I’ll use it for the seats. ............. Thanks for watching!!!.

Morris style glider #16: Glider mechanism

03-03-2019 02:05 AM by Ryan Tanguay | 0 comments »

Working out the kinks of the glider mechanism. Purchased a hardware kit from Platte River Engineering for the glider part. It came with diagrams and instructions on how to make the wooden parts. I adjusted some of the parts to work with the dimensions of my chair as well as the integration into my chair. Didn’t realize until I got to this point that the instructions aren’t as clear as I would have liked them to be. Come to find out that certain assemblies in the glider base are...
