Small Projects #33: Metric Box - It's full of METERS!

11-19-2020 01:57 AM by Madmark2 | 3 comments »

Just got a couple of toys for myself as a belated b’day gift. An outlet tester and an induction probe to go along with my DVM. One of my complaints about DVM’s is that the leads seldom store neatly. As electrical tools in a wood shop the things collect lots of dust and debris. I came up with this four compartment lexan lidded box: It’s a metric box ‘cause its full of meters! I used 30” of oak 1×6 resawn on the TS to 5/16” and planed down to...

Small Projects #20: Jigsaw Stand

03-23-2020 11:51 PM by Madmark2 | 0 comments »

Bought a jigsaw to cut out for a dog bowl five or six years ago. Have only used it once since (interestingly enough to cut another dog bowl). Jigsaws have that stupid blade sticking out and I know for a fact if I remove the blade the next time I go to use it (in another five or six years) I’ll never find the blade. I know I have a blade assortment that I bought when I bought the jigsaw but I have no clue where they might be. The blade means you can’t stand the jig saw up and...

Musings of an Amateur - Building a Sewing Table #2: Sanding and Cutting the Table Top

03-05-2016 01:32 AM by JetDriver | 0 comments »

So I finally made it back into the shop courtesy of a nasty flu bug that knocked my wife flat and forced me to stay home from work. Given that my shop space is limited I had done some thinking about how to sequence the work flow and had decided that I should do as much cutting and sanding as possible before I start assembling anything. I am fortunate to have a 2 car garage so assembly space isn’t a big issue it just means forcing a car outside until I can get the project out of there. ...

"Why is This Car Parked in My Shop?" Turning My One Car Garage Into A Shop #2: Kreg Top Track Production Stop/Chop Saw Outfeed Table/Fence

03-22-2010 04:12 AM by Brad_Nailor | 8 comments »

I recently got a great deal on a Kreg precision measuring kit at wood shop liquidation sale. I was considering buying the kit brand new for $140 bucks… I got this one for $25, but it was missing all the hardware. I sent an email to Kreg explaining my situation and asking if they could sell me the replacement parts and they promptly answered back saying they would send me out all the hardware I was missing for free! I can’t say enough great things about Kreg and their customer serv...

Another Craigslist Jackpot!

02-21-2010 01:51 AM by Brad_Nailor | 5 comments »

Sometimes Craigslist is a real pain…but sometimes it pays off to be persistent! I was emailing with this guy who was liquidating his wood shop and he had a Kreg Precision measuring kit for sale new in the box for $100 bucks. So after a bit of email tag, I went over to take a look at it. He had a bunch of other stuff for sale but when I looked at the Kreg setup it was unused like he said but all the assembly hardware was missing…just the major components were there. He was already ...

Mitre Saw Station

12-28-2009 05:47 PM by Rileysdad | 2 comments »

I saw Blankman’s post on his mitre saw dust hood and thought I’d share my idea for a mitre saw station. This one hangs on the wall by a french cleat. I built it in three sections: left and right fence sections and the center saw section. The saw is the DeWalt 12” dual bevel model (not a slider.) I gave a lot of thought to whether the fence should be built on a platform or on the flat of the table. As you can see I chose the platform and I’m glad I did. I end ...

i had a compund miter saw that i never used, coz it was in the corner, and i couldn’t et to it. i had a pegboard that i coudn’t reach.i had wood cut-off storage all over the place.my RAS and big table saw were at right angles to each other, and i like that. sort of like command central.i needed more wall storage; when i installed the RAS, i put up pegs for blades—wrong. after a half-dozen drawings and estimates of materials and countless trips to HD, for pricing, i fina...
