Moving on to the Bandsaw Table

10-09-2011 06:23 AM by David Grimes | 17 comments »

I’m nearly done with the drill press table, but am stalled waiting on some t-track for the fence. It will be here sometime next week. So I have jumped into the next project: A table for my Ridgid Bandsaw. Here’s a BEFORE shot: I am using some phenolic coated Baltic birch that I got from Rockler. I really like this stuff. No voids at all. It rips on my TS without chips. I can’t scratch it with my fingernails no matter how hard I try. Not so with lacquer, poly,...

Resawing wood and veneers #1: The Laguna Driftmaster Fence System

05-26-2008 03:20 AM by Karson | 14 comments »

Well I went ahead and did it. A woodworking e-mail blog stated that Laguna Driftmaster fence system for cutting veneers and I went to their web site and viewed the video. I’ve cut veneers and thin strips of wood before, but never with a lot of accuracy. The kitchen cabinets that I made in NJ was made with Ambrosia Maple that was sawed into 1/4” slices and sanded to 5.2MM. It was then installed into a metric plywood router bit set for stile and rails. I wanted to do something...

Laguna 1412 Bandsaw Mods and Musings #1: Custom Everyday Fence

12-01-2020 12:22 AM by pintodeluxe | 11 comments »

YouTube on Laguna 1412 Mods I love the re-saw fence on the Laguna 1412 bandsaw, but I didn’t use it in flat mode much. It tends to take a lot of table space, and is actually a little lower than I like. So I made an “Everyday” fence that is 2-1/4” tall, and it works great for notching, joinery work, and most routine bandsaw cuts that require a fence. I wanted to be able to switch back and forth between the t...

Building a Bandsaw Fence #1: Making the rails and gluing up the fence.

05-25-2017 03:41 AM by Woodknack | 9 comments »

You can also follow along on Instagram. My fence will be adapted from the the bandsaw fence built by Paul Fiebach, published in the Oct 1974 Popular Mechanics. Calling this a “plan” is generous. Like many old “plans”, it is just a sketch, an idea. There are a few dimensions but once you start, it quickly becomes apparent how much information was left out. Step One: I cut 3 pieces of 3/4” birch plywood, 2.5” wide by 16” long and face glued th...

Bandsaw resaw fence - Quick and dirty

03-21-2020 04:48 PM by mafe | 7 comments »

Bandsaw resaw fenceQuick and dirty. Hi,Here a little project for resawing on the bandsaw.A quick and dirty fence, that allows you to saw thin cuts and support from bottom to top of the wood. I see a lot online about this and some say it’s all about adjustment of the saw, that if the saw is adjusted correct, there will be no drift and so you can just use your straight fence… Hmmmmmmm I did noy manage, it always drift for me. Perhaps it’s due to the blades, that we have a bad supply...

Building a Bandsaw Fence #3: The end

05-27-2017 04:07 AM by Woodknack | 7 comments »

Not much interest in this so I’ll wrap it up. It’s done other than paint is drying. At some point I’ll put templates up on my personal blog (link in sig). If some future person comes along and is interested and I haven’t put them up yet, just send me a message. That’s blue tape on the sides. The top will be blue, the sides natural. And yes, my brush sucks. Tomorrow I’ll buy a new one and hopefully get a better finish. #ibuilditblue

Building a Bandsaw Fence #2: Cam

05-25-2017 06:49 PM by Woodknack | 3 comments »

Next part is making the cam and what I’m calling the “shoe” (as in brake shoe) for lack of a better term (suggestions welcome). The original cam template. I made this and it didn’t look right. Probably should have tried it first but I decided to tweak the curve a little and used a logarithmic spiral template by Marius Hornberger. Tweaked curve, much better looking in my opinion. Getting the cam to work proved a little trickier than expected. Marius...

Shop Upgrades #24: Band Saw Fence Part 2

09-25-2016 11:14 PM by bkseitz | 1 comment »

Finished modified install of Kreg Band Saw Fence to my Craftsman 14” BS. Tried it out with good results :-) Originally I was going to build a extended table on top, but that would have lost me an inch of cutting height which was already close. A compromise for getting a really low priced BS. So far this unit seems to cover all of my needs++ But I’m only starting out with it. The issue I had with most after market fences is that they all bolted to the table such that I...
