2 drawer chest #8: Sunday's Follies

Sunday…was a 3 hour affair…to get one drawer into the clamps vacated by the case….that needed cleaned, sanded, and shaped….first the case work..needed to remove a bunch of clamps..And see what it looks like… At least nothing fell off….Sanded the corner round…leveling the joints… The molding across the back had a line of dried glue, from a squeeze out…extra board to support the glue removal tool…..worked my way on around… ...

2 drawer chest #9: Monday, monday

Decided to press my luck..normally the Shop is closed on Mondays….Decided to see what I could get done… Removed a bunch of clamps, for one.. Which, with any luck, will get used again, shortly…. Means this drawer is out of the clamps. This is the Bottom of the 2 drawers. It needed the joints cleaned up, leveled, the plywood bottom planed and sanded to match the drawer better…then a few test fits…until it slid in without binding in the case….then ...

DVD Cabinet of Ash #7: A panel for a door

Sounds easy enough? First need to haul a 8-1/2’ long 1×6 to the shop….through a Kitchen with 7’ ceilings From the dining room, with 9’ ceilings….headed for the house’s back door…get past the stove.. Hang a right ( hand held camera, sorry), heading for the 1st door on the right…. Had the signs on the door, even.. Door opens out, of course, to reveal this scary sight.. Part of every workshop success is being organized and having templates on hand to trace and cut out, my shop is no different, for the longest time I kept my templates stuffed in a box, as of lately I have been getting request for shelves, rather than dig out these templates I created the “I SEE IT BOARD” this way a person can see the options that are available, it will be easier for me as well because I will be able to grab what I need and when I am done I can easily put it back ...

It was a good day in the garage. I need a few more like this one to keep me on track to finish this project and a few others before Christmas Eve. First I cut the pieces for the base frame, box sides, and the drawer fronts out of White Ash). Because I’m going to attempt dovetail joints for the first time on the box sides, I cut the sides by hand and jointed the edges by hand to make sure they were perfectly matched. The weather has been rather nice lately. So nice that I have been spending more time in the shop. Along with being out in the air with Sally and Lil’ Lee. I have had the camera in the shop too.
