New Milestone

01-20-2010 08:11 PM by Jim Earl | 9 comments »

Well today marks a major milestone for me. I just got back from mailing out my first sale to an Art Gallery out of state. As you all has seen, I put pictures of my burnings on the internet and was surprised by an e-mail about a week ago from an Art Gallery wanting two of my Burnings. She said she had a gentleman wanting a couple of them. I sure hope this is the start of something. I am still looking for new pictures to burn on your boxws, any projects you may have. I am looking for a new woo...

"Escaping a Brain Freezin' MeltDown With WoodArt" --by RusticWoodArt

10-10-2007 07:26 PM by frank | 9 comments »

Escaping a Brain Freezin’ MeltDown With WoodArt ....what you must understand is that here I am sitting this morning before this crazy computer screen and all these figures of dimensions on my desk….blueprints, sketch designs, numbers and more numbers, while I put together an order for an up and coming renovation. This is not the part of the job I like and so I am giving thanks that the numbers are all starting to finally come together. It’s a rainy day here and as I ta...

Intarsia Basics #4: Part 4 Coming Soon (Sorry)!!!!

05-03-2012 03:02 AM by KoryK | 9 comments »

I just wanted to update on the status of the class and inform every one of the delay. For those of you that do not know, I had a misfortunate (stupid?) accident and broke a bone in my right hand a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping that I had progressed far enough beforehand that it would not affect the class. Unfortunately the bones are not healing correctly and it is taking longer for ir it to heal. I tried again tonight, but do not have enough dexterity or hand strength to sand while I...

"Hobbit Holes in MyWorld" --by RusticWoodArt #11: "Two Maples....One Pine and, ...."

05-21-2008 01:50 PM by frank | 9 comments »

Two Maples….One Pine, and…. ....so i stepped outside to the wonders of an outdoor workshop, where some trees where culling my name, having not much time to pass with endless chatter, i reached down and turned my cell-phone off…. —-silence….. ....and so i went up last week and payed my respects to an old friend, one much wiser then me in all the ways of wood, who welcomed me back since our meeting of last fall, while even now this one is busy in the givin...

Intarsia Basics #3: Let’s Do Some Cutting!

04-19-2012 02:25 AM by KoryK | 9 comments »

Thanks for joining us for the third installment of “Intarsia Basics” and this is where it starts to get really fun. Cutting out the pattern is one of the best parts of doing this kind of art. It takes a little practice to get used to using your saw. You can look up some practice patterns or just make some zig zags, loop the loops, straight lines, gentle curves, and circles on a piece of paper and glue to a practice board. Cut out some of these and you will start getting used to the “feel ...

"Hobbit Holes in MyWorld" --by RusticWoodArt #67: Turning A Page In Life

Turning A Page In Life…. ….can we define the moment that wood took hold, can i fathom the canker i have be-come within my woods, who can understand that time when light exposed pine, and color bore witness to the heavens under which we lived…. ….i have walked in silence before the trees of these woods, where i shunned the teachings that came from noisy man, after all what is man but a creature of manifold knottiness, sent on his ways by the opinions he ply’s daily ...

08-26-2009 06:24 AM by frank | 9 comments »

Barn Tales ….and so i sit, watching the pages of my mind,un-fold before my eyes in splendor, surrounded by this old barn and it’s love…. ….old wood and new wood gathered here, calling out my name to come and rest a while, and so after a day of work i leave all behind,to visit with an old friend as friends will do…. ….no-secrets between us but what tales we tell, stories of what has been and our dreams to come, shared feelings of how it might have been done, and the pa...

"Hobbit Holes in MyWorld" --by RusticWoodArt #63: On the LighterSide of Wood

11-01-2009 07:23 PM by frank | 9 comments »

On the LighterSide of Wood So after last night…. I decided it was time to resume my identity, as I am known to mortals. Last night’s photo avatar was a way of closing out a time worn photo image of my-self and, since I am much younger now, I thought I would post a newer version—vision of who I am. This one will run a short while here, till I can come up with a better picture of a hermit turned wood hobbit who lives ‘out in the woods’. ——&#...

Workshop Principles ….taking time out, as i waundered home after the days work, is an intoxicating drink of heady ale, where those who stop and drink can soon get lost in an-other time and era….And it is in these places where I oft do stop, to taste my dreams and set them free….so I invite you to come along and lets cover some ground in these forest of trees where ones, such as I can still dwell. These were taken around 7:00 pm the other night as I was coming in from a...
