Northfield old iron #1: Northfield 8" Medium Duty jointer made in 1950

A friend told me that his son had been collecting Northfield machinery for his big shop and that he had found an8” jointer in Washington that he did not need, since he had a 12” Heavy Duty jointer, but that if his father was interested, he would check it out. Mobile Base Modified for a Delta DJ-20 Jointer

I started with a Delta brand kit that includes four corners and wheels. You are supposed to add hardwood 2×2’s to complete the mobile base. Rockler and Woodcraft sell similar versions. I picked up some 1.5” square steel tube at my local steel yard, and made this heavy duty version for my DJ-20. I cleaned the raw steel pieces with some mineral spirits, then primed and painted them.
