”Tenacity” ....yes, there we have it, as all spelled out in the definition of our character as one coming into this world of woodworking and being ‘tenacious’ of soul…. And how much tenacity does it take to be a worker of wood when all around us we are filled with the images of store bought and store brought composites and even now I can get manufactured plastic wood that requires little or no maintenance, or so ‘they say’. And so once again I m...

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Richard Scoop. I live on the sunny island of Curacao in the southern Caribbean (20 miles north of Venezuela), we are dutch. My workshop is a tiny shed I built, from there and the open air I have built cabinets for my kitchen. Since the shed is a mess, I will not post of it. I will be posting a picture of my saw cabinet at a later time. In this blog I will be writing about my trials and tribulation of working from my micro workshop.

Events at our cabin! #4: Building a New Deck, 1988

01-04-2007 11:25 PM by Dick, & Barb Cain | 17 comments »

Hi, I’m trying something new today. I’m trying to run a slideshow. It shows the construction of one of my decks at our cabin. I don’t care to cut trees down, so in order to fit a deck on this location , I discovered that using hexagonal sections fit the best.

Thanks to Martin, I’m now a proud owner of a classy new Lumberjocks T-shirt At the request of Martin, I’m posting this photo of myself modeling it. I want to Thank Martin again for honoring me with this prize. I may not have qualified for this award, if I had been out in my shop more, & spent less time on the computer. But now I’m glad I ”Did what I Did”

”Mountains of Tree Art” ....and yes, I do love the mountains and trees that surround me here in NH. It is just a matter of stepping out my front door and I am in another world, as according to what time of season we are in here. Now there’s another thought I could take off on, ‘time of season’ here in NH. Why just yesterday I stepped out of my shop in the afternoon and was immediately found to be in spring like weather. January in NH and temperatures in the...

In this episode Marc is showing two of the most popular ways to finish cutting boards. ”eleemosynary” ”....what do we inherit if not the understanding of who lights the fire that spills from yonder tree....?” —-and so the passion burned within the bosom of the tree, till the ground shook from the footsteps of the woodsman who was passing by,and feeling a hot and fiery breath that touched his soul with quaking zest, this one turned and called a name from heavens past. ....and time stood still within that space betwixt the ticking-tock,as all ...

My Dad

01-03-2007 07:40 AM by Don | 7 comments »

One of the greatest influences in my life was my Dad. I mention him in this blog, because I started thinking about him again as I often do in relation to woodworking. My Father was a woodworking enthusiast just like me. But since I came to this after he died, I never had the chance to discuss woodworking as one enthusiast to another, the way TimberJocks do. A beef with Lie-Nielson

01-03-2007 06:17 AM by Ethan Sincox | 11 comments »

My last entry in a forum sparked a recent sore spot I have with Lie-Nielson… The latest tool they came out with is a mini router, based off the Stanley 271 Mini Router Plane. They are even coming out with some 1/16” irons for it, which totally stoked me! But after an inquiry, I found out they did specifically designed their plane irons to NOT fit the Stanley 271. I find that a bit irritating. They expect me to spend the extra $75 on their plane so I can use their blades. ...
