Super happy with today’s goodies:
1. A Marples knife blade marking gauge. $7
2. Drawknife of unknown origin. $5
3. H. Wells moving filletster plane. $10
Head over heals about the plane. I’ve been scouring eBay and other sources for one just like this. Overall it’s in really good shape. Took it apart, cleaned it up and oiled the depth stop screw. I’ll need to sharpen the blade later. It’s got a small crack in the fence, which I just glued up and should be fine. It’s also missing the nicker iron, so I’m going to have to find or make one for it. I just ordered a piece of O1 steel of the right size anyway. I can shape it to fit, and it’s about time I learned to harden steel.
The marking gauge is nearly mint. The drawknife will need some clean up, but is surprisingly sharp considering how it looks. One of the handles is a little bit loose. It looks like there’s a rod that goes through the handle and is hammered flat at the end. So I think some more hammering should push it tight and hold it there.
