Delta 14 in. (I think) band saw - 4 replies

Hey Gents… There’s a Delta band saw up for auction about 10 minutes from me. In the link below, it looks like a 14 inch. Open cabinet, nothing fancy. I’m thinking of heading to the auction and bidding on the BS. If it’s in good condition, can one of you LJs give me a give or take $$ amount I should stop at? T...

Stanley No. 7 - 29 replies

Hi all. I found a Stanley No. 7 on Craigslist and the guy is asking $50.00 for it. I’m heading out soon to take a look at it. I know nothing about the older/vintage planes. Is $50 for this plane in the ball park if it’s in decent/useable condition? Thanks !!

Red Neck Splitter for my Unisaw - 10 replies

Ok, not a riving knife, I know that. But it will get me by until I decide on a more permanent fix/solution. btw…. I can see why, or better how, BORK and others get +150.00 for their riving knives. I cut the splitter from a length of 2 in. x 1/8 in. mild steel I had. Had to grind/sand/file/thin it down to get it to work. Little sucker...

BORK for a Unisaw - 3 replies

Been reading the reviews here on LJs about the BORK riving knife, and came out with a question… From looking at the various photos, it looks like the bracket blocks access to the arbor for blade changing. How do you BORK owners change blades? My early/mid ‘90s Unisaw already has a bracket that looks like could set a splitter i...

Need Unisaw arbor washer - I think.... - 12 replies

The current washer that came with my used 34-459 rt. tilt Uni is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter, about 1 inch bigger than the flange on the arbor that the blade fits up against. And, there’s a “hollow” to the blade washer, so when I put a little pressure on the nut/waher to hold the blade in place, the blade actually develops ...

Unisaw motor - 1 or 3 phase?? - 62 replies

I really need some help/advice here Gents. I’ve posted a few pics of the switch, plug, and motor to my Unisaw (model 34-459). I bought the saw used over the summer for $500.00 and the guy that sold it to me said he ran it on 220V. I’ve been working on getting my shop together and have been using the Uni for a few small shop rela...

"Breadboard Ends" question - 1 reply

I see allot of LJ’s making table tops and putting breadboard ends on them. I made a cherry table many years ago that the “breadboar ends” slide out, so I can put a leaf at each end to extend the table. The 40 inch wide top of my cherry table expands and contracts noticeably during winter/summer months. The ends of course a...

Dewalt 735 cutter head - 11 replies

Hey Gents… I have about 400 BF of rough cut Ash, most is 4/4, I plan to turn into base and window trim. So, I’ve been thinking of getting a Shelix cutter head for my Dewalt 735. I’ve read a few reviews about the cutter and seems those who have purchased one are overall pretty impressed with it. Price from Shelix is $445.0...

Colored Glue - 6 replies

Several years ago I bought some wood glue, could’a been Titebond but not sure. Anyways, it was about medium to dark brown in color. While in the box stores shopping for other stuff I’ve checked, but haven’t seen any of the dark glue. Anyone know if it’s still made?

$400 Delta 14 in. Band Saw...worth it? - 5 replies

http://syracuse.craigslist.org/tls/4090089814.html This Delta BS has been on CR for a while now. I actually saw it in person while I was at the sellers house a couple of weeks ago buying a 70 ft. length of no. 8 elec. wire. At the time the seller said she was asking $650 for the saw, which I thought was way too much, so I walked away. Is i...

Craigslist - Good Deals - 169 replies

Got an idea here…. I know we have a thread going on about the CL crap/goofy deals. And reading through the thread is good for lots of laughs!! But how about a thread on CL WW tools or materials that are good deals. Heck I’m always looking and sometimes spot stuff that I don’t necessarily need, or want. But I sometimes do ...

Cedar Exterior Doors - need to protect - 3 replies

Hello all. I’m in the process (almost finished actually) of making up a pair of 4×8 swinging doors to fill an 8×8 opening in my new garage. The doors are tongue and groove Cedar. Is there a protectorant or clear sealer I can or should apply to the exterior side of the doors to protect them from the elements, and maybe help the...

Protecting Cedar Outside - 2 replies

I’m in the process of making up a pair of Cedar barn style doors for an 8 ft. x 8 ft. opening on the back side of my garage/shop. What’s a good product to apply to the Cedar to help seal or protect it from the elements. Is there a clear, or mostly clear sealer of sorts that will soak into the Cedar and keep rain from soaking into i...

Could use some feed back on shop lighting…. We just finished building the new combo garage/wood working shop. Plan is to use an airless and spray the ceilings and walls white semi gl...

Tool GLOAT...I think, + a question - 9 replies

Few days ago I came accross a Sears compressor, belt driven, that looks like new. A neighbor had it at the end of his driveway with a For Sale sign on it. I knocked on the door and asked how much, and he said I could have it for $25.00. Neighbor said he bought it at a garage sale and could not use it, because it’s 220V. I looked and su...

Unisaw 34-459 - riving knife, splitter, guard - 15 replies

Hi all. I’m back with hat in hand, once again, asking questions about my newly acquired Unisaw model 34-459. I’ve been reading threads on LJ’s about riving knifes & spitters. And I’ve also been on the net looking for a riving knife or splitter that will work/fit my Uni, and can’t seem to find a concrete answ...
