earlier this year…I “picked” a Mitre Box and saw….Spent a dollar. Have since rehabbed the saw..from..UGLY.. To something a bit more presentable to “Polite Company”.... Which left the box itself to freshen up a bit…Model Number? A Mitre Box that I am actually older than? Deck was about worn out… But, outside of the kerf canyons, I can use this as a Pattern for a new deck….question being.. How to chop that recess out? S...

Part 2: Rebuilding the box

laundry Detail last night….needed something to do while waiting on the washer and dryer to get done….hauled all the parts to the shop…whether to clean off rusty/dusty crud….or do a little woodworking…hmmm Set up the drill press…size Forstner bit needed was 1-7/8”..... Pine scrap so the Ash plank will set level… I use the old deck as a pattern to lay out how and where to drill….combo square set to the depth needed.. Felt it was ...

Part 3: Refresh the saw, call it done...

Time to get the Olde Wentworth No.1 down off the the shelf…clean it up, and set it into the end vise…ready for work… Had a 4” XXSlim file…needed a handle drove onto it…saves the hand, that way…. just 3 strokes, straight across, per tooth….work from back at the heel, all the way to the toe.. Most of the gullets were simply full of..crud…had to slide the saw back a bit…did not really take all that long. Had done a test driv...
