Part 1: Start up

Been getting lazy about writing these Blogs, lately. Finished up box project a while back, and forgot to Blog about it…Oooops. Well, I’ll see IF I can find all the stuff about this Fancy box build, and see how it turns out… After the Pine Stepback Cupboard Project was done, I had a bunch of leftovers to use up..or burn. Ran the bandsaw a lot, to resaw them down to about 3/8” thick…that WAS the plan. Picture shows one of the “plainer” bo...

Part 2: Almost assembly time

Ok, plan was to have a divider in the middle of the box…so, mark out for a dado to be milled.. Then more work with the backsaw…. Then a chisel to clean it out….. Hand plane to smooth the divider up….was a tad rough from the bandsaw…and you can see the planning stop. Then, this is where the cussing began in earnest….Kept trying to dry fit all the parts at once….got fed up, and then just spread the glue, added the clamps, and a couple cauls...

Part 3: Moldings from scratch?

OK….Moldings. Still had some of that fancy grained pine…and I wanted to add a molded bottom edge to the box… Drew a “pattern” of sorts….to lay out where each cut will go. Decided to use the Stanley 45 for the first two cuts.. Step 1 was a bead. This board was to make a pattern, for the actual molding…so I could reset the planes.. Step 2 was this “cove” cut. I had ground a profile on an old cutter, to make a trough for auge...
