Part 1: Trip to Lowes, and a start up

Needed something better than a TV Tray as a bedside table. Off to Lowes for a few things.. A 1×8 x 8’ was needed to build a topA 1×4 x 8’ was needed for aprons and other small parts ( Drawer, maybe?)anda 2×4 x 8’ was needed for leg blanks Grand total? $20.16…....Cheap table? Small circular to crosscut the 1×8 into three 27” long blanks…..Jointed the edges.. With a Stanley #6c small jointer plane. Laid the three down...

Part 2: Rest of the legs and some aprons

A quick update, this time around…. The Boss wanted to go over to Menards, and price a few items ( Honey-do sort of things..) While there I picked a couple 1×6 x 6’ Pine boards…...same price as a 12 footer, just a lot easier to carry in the van….took awhile to get a couple decent, but cheap boards….about half what they wanted for Clear Pine…..I can deal with knots… Letting them sit, leaning against the bandsaw…...the one in front was...

Part 3: Some assembly required..

Well, the cussing has begun…... Decided to mill a few tenons on the ends of the aprons…..Discovered I NEED the spur installed as soon as it gets here on my Stanley #45…..as I “Fired” the Wards #78 today. First off, I laid out for a tenon Didn’t want a tenon the full width of the 1×6, so.. Cut off a 3/4” x 3/4” square on each corner. At least there is less to work on….Got the Stanley made Wards #78 out of storage and star...

Part 4: Catching up, and a drawer made

Beginning to dislike hand cut half blind Dovetails…...PITA to do.. This is the second one I’ve ever done, without using an electric router and jig…..Maybe after a few more, I might get decent at these? Second side is out of the clamps, legs have their beads milled And stashed over with the first side. Dovetails are passable.. Part 5: Mortise work and other things

Ok, time to get caught up with this thing.. Had two of these to do for the back apron Had two of these to chop out for the bottom rail of the drawer opening.. And the top rail gets a dovetail on each end….finally got the whole mess into the clamps and let this sit a day…..Monday, the shop is normally closed…not today…got the base out of the clamps. Checked the drawer, again…needed the front planed flat.. Works for me.. Corner blocks…were ...
