Again. Well, a trip to Lowes produced a couple of boards….3/8 by 5-1/2 wide. One was 2’ long, the other was 3’. Laid out the two planes that will go into the box. Needed a length and a width..But, before too much got done, decided to clear the deck, and clean it up a bit…. Seems it has been abused lately.. Anyway, once I got a length, I could grab a crosscut saw and saw to a line.. Just barely leaving the line.. Hey, the original “Cordless...

Part 2: Glue ups, just glue ups

Some went nicely…some resulted in clamps flying across the shop….Ever try to clamp up a thin panel? Finally, to stop all the hijinks going on, used the vise to hold the two flat, and then added the clamps. Had rebates to mill along the bottom edges of all four sides.. The 78 to mill it, the shoulder plane did the clean up…except for my floor, though. No longer have Igor for broom work, I guess I get to do that. laid out the recess for the shoulder plane to sit ...

Part 3: Lid work

Well, sanded down some of the fingers that were sticking up.. After which, I ran a small combo square and a pencil around Trying to land somewhere besides right on a pin. Plane was to saw the lid part from the box’s bottom. Handsaw would be a bit too rough on things, and get into a bind. Bandsaw? A bit hard to do, and see where I was cutting. Yard sale item might just work… I cut one end first, to get the hang of using this heavy saw. Then cut the long side...
