Part 1: Starting up

Well, the brace till is done, now I need a place to stash all the bits in…. There are a few more upstairs, in hiding I think. Had some thin Oak scraps. Chose four of them to makes a few sides to a box. Threw some tools out on the bench, to cut some through dovetails with. had an old, single fluted dovetail router bit. Used than as a pattern. Part 2: Working on a bottom for the box

Ok, started off checking the layouts.. All four sides together and square? Check! Motivator in place? Check. trimmed the bottom panel. Trimmed two pieces of JEFF’S Maple, jointed the edges, and clamped them up in the now empty clamps. Then stowed them out of the way for awhile… Ok, back to the Oak stuff. Got the bottom panel all nice and square. Clamped it down to the bench, time to cut a rebate or four… Numbah Wun! took a bit to set it just right. ...

Part 3: Lid might be done?

Well, went down to the shop this morning, removed the lid blank from the clamps…meh Needed a bit of saw work to square things up to the box. Ok, first we work over the box itself, then layout where the box fits the lid at. jack planes to level the sides of the box at the dovetails. beltsander helped at the corners. Laid the box on the lid, drew some pencil lines. Bandsaw TRIED to follow the lines….need to work on the bandsaw later… Lid was a bit large for the...

Part 4: finishing touches, bit racks

Went out and bought some brass hinges, well, at least they were brass PLATED. Picked up a latch as well.. A 3/4” x 3/4” aluminnum angle about 2’ long wound up in the cart as well.. measured for length, bandsaw to cut, had to metal blanks. Clamped them together. Chucked a bit bit in the drill press. Drilled a few holes along one side of the angles. Used the bandsaw to convert the holes into slots. Dug up some mesh drawer liner. Cut it to width, plus a bit ...
