« Part 6: Update on that lid Part 7 of Back to building boxes series Part 8: Rebates? »

Battery died during the last session…got it all charged back up, now…

A better look at Box No.1 Stopped by Menard’s on the way home, Wednesday from the Doctor’s office..a few cheap paint brushes, some thumbscrews, some items for the Boss, and..

2 sets of brass corner plates…to protect the bottom corners a bit…

My 2 Stanley SW tools…I had incorrectly ID’d the marking gauge as a No. 68….when it actually is a No. 65.

Since I do Pins first..a Geo. H. Bishop No. 10 was given a try-out…bar is adjustable, acts as a depth stop..

A set to do some chopping, usual suspects rounded up…knife the baseline…chop 1/2 half down, flip over, complete the chops…show side first, inside to complete the pins…stand the board up on a long side ….

inside to inside. SHARP pencil helps…then over to the bandsaw..

And then chop out the waste, same as above…then a dry fit?

Then repeat all the above steps for the next corner…

These take a bit longer than those Finger/Box joints do….

Inside of the end piece, had a label…that is a bit difficult to just peel off…so..

We have ways…Stanley No. 70…this is what it was designed to do…

Push or pull, it doesn’t matter…

Next trip to the shop…it seems the headis on..bass-ackwards…supposed to be a brass rub plate facing the cutter, NOT my hand…need to turn it around…

And, this is that strip of Ash Scrap I was using to plug a few square (almost) holes…with one sitting there waiting it’s turn…

Pre-setting a couple clamps…so they will be ready when the glue-up happens….may try tomorrow to getthe other 2 corners done? Then the grooves and rebates can start in…
Stay tuned..
