And, not the kind you get through the mail, from Menard’s, either…

Planes were set up to do a bit of rebate/rabbet work. Goal being to have a place for the plywood bottom to sit flush with the bottom of the box….so..

Turned out, I didn’t need that woodie…as the second #79 will work just fine…layout lines were drawn..

Was trying to leave that line, for now,, used the leg vise to hold each part…

Checking as I went…needed Plane #2 to flatten out that bump in the road…when there was no gaps, and the plywood was flush to the top edge…that one was done, on to the next….

Long ones did take a bit longer…until..

Plywood fit again….Before all this was done..I made sure each part was where it was supposed to be, and marked as such..
.
Yep…”Lay out work” Got all 4 sides done…dry fit..
.
Not too worried about the open spots, will fill those later…maybe a square of Rosewood, to dress it up? Checked the plywood’s fit..

A little loose? Tried the clamps, mainly to get them set up and ready..

Flip the box-to-be right side up, and tried a plane..

May make a “Keeper” to glue inside, to keep the plane from rattling around in there…rebates done? Not quite..

This also came out of the clamps, today. Needs one good square edge, then trim the other for length…then see about for width…took a bit of figuring, but..

Had to allow for the rebates than will set in grooves around the top edges….and sit flush with the top edges..

Laying out the end grain ones first. Went to rotate the spur down to use,,,,slot was buggered up…we have ways..

Knife that line about 5 or 6 times…still not quite deep enough…backsaw got it down to depth…then the 79s took over..

Goal being to leave just enough to fit into the groove made by that #12 cutter….end grain first, so when I do the long grain down the sides..it will clean up the corners…in theory..

Not too hateful? Had to add that clamp, as the board wanted to hop onto the floor ( did once! Grrr)...took this over to the box….set it in upside down…

I wanted to check how well it will fit, once the grooves are milled..I did set up the Stanley 45..

Used the Micro Adjust to set the fence where it needed to be….and locked it all down…

That will be ready for the next “Laundry Detail” trip….

Stay tuned…
