« Part 5: Bad lid, good lid Part 6 of Fancy Corners, for a box series Part 7: Lid is done, feet installed...PIP? »

First a mystery needed cleaned up. Lid IS indeed as flat as I can plane it…and as smooth….yet it still wants to rock

No matter which face of the lid is “up”...still rocks the same way…..hmmmm…that means just one thing….2 corners of the box do NOT match the other 2….at the diagonals…..we have ways..

Plane the 2 high corners down a bit…until the lid does sit flat…and does not rock..had also started on the hinges…

Pilot hole via a scratch awl….mortise via a chisel. 2 whacks per cut…..chisel to remove the waste…install the hinge

That be the smallest Phillips screwdriver I had IN the shop, this morning….when the lid is closed..

This should be all you will see of the hinges…..knee was getting a bit sore..Boss wanted to go for a drive…..maybe later, I can at least clear the bench a bit?

And decide on some feet for this box…

Will see how tomorrow goes, after Knee Rehab is over…..

Stay tuned…
