« Part 4: Needed a router table? Part 5 of A Project for August, Tool Chest series Part 6: We have glue up! »

Catching up a bit…router table has been put away….tablesaw brought back out. Set up a Stanley #45, Type 4 to mill a couple dados

In hind-sight, I should have added the Cam rest…as this was hard to keep from tipping to either side..mainly to the left…First, I had it set for 1/4” deep..

Discovered the spurs were a bit on the DULL side…got a bit..chippy..

Plywood to get for high spots…old, plain candle to help ease the plane through the cut….Finished up this dado, decided to switch to a couple rebates…

Start this one, and THEN remembered the spur was engaged…..which makes 78 want to walk away from the back corner…Skewed rebate plane to remove that “ridge”..while I rotate the spur up out of the way..rebate needs to house the back of the case…so, plywood scrap to check the fit for depth..

Should do the trick..
As I also needed the rebates to house the bottom of the top’s compartment. Then test to see if they line up with the dado..

Got the panel for that compartment cut to fit…worked on dado #2..

More dry fits..

One item stood out…the sides of the case are just over 1/8” too wide….Had to set up the rip fence on the tablesaw..was just enough room to clamp it down…and set up to rip/skim the front edges back a bit….one side had a slight taper to it….then reset to trim the case’s bottom….as it NOW stuck out too far into the back’s rebate…

Busy day? Went back and deepen the 2 dado for the top’s compartment floor…1/4” just didn’t seem to offer much support for the ends…then I could finish cutting the plywood floor to length…

Almost ready for a glue up?

Stay tuned…

It’s definitely getting closer! This is a fun one to watch.
