« Part 5: Mortises, two ways Part 6 of A Table for the Gazebo series Part 7: Bread board ends, drawer building »

Rest of the mortises..went something like this..

Lay out was simple….however,,Father Murphy decided that he would pay a visit..today….

Ooops…not a biggie, hole will get covered by the table’s top. Got all 4 square holes chopped, test fitted…decided to glue things together..

Then…feeling good…decided to glue the other end up.
.
Then…the 2 long sides were glued up..

So far so good? Wait for it….I notched and glued in the runners for the drawer to slide in on….

Then, got to taking a better, non-Murphy look…..bead detail on one of the long sides..was wrong….had to go back knock that side apart, including the runner, and flip the side over, to where the bead is along the bottom edge….in the process of which….one leg lost the bottom 3rd onto the floor….more clamps and glue to fix that…grrrr…

The 4 corner blocks were sawn….counter-bored, and a pilot hole drilled….

So, that once all the clamps come back off….I can screw and glue them in place..

Then get the drawer parts all sized up..

For the next full day in the shop….drawer building 101…..decided to see IF Father Murphy had left the building, as I wanted to work on the table’s top…...nope, still here…

Had to add 3-1/2” to the width…..will need the bread board ends to make the required length…..need to trim the top’s ends square, and add a tongue for the ends to connect to….

Today being a Monday…shop will be closed, until Murphy leaves the building….

Stay tuned….
