These two..

Are out of the clamps…

Handsome, ain’t they? Checked to see IF they match up to each other…

of course, they don’t….we have ways…

Place them in the vise together, Millers Falls No. 11 Junior Jack to plane until they DO match….so, how do the match up with the back panel?

As usual….Mark a line, joint down to that line, check with a straight edge..

Ok…need to trim the back and sides…and for square..

First, the lid needs squared up, and cut for 12” length…

Then I can size the back panel to allow a 3/8” overhang on both ends…

And do the same for the 2 side panels…..which also needed cleaned up…

Now they look “presentable”.....

By going with a smaller length 12” instead of 16”....means the parts for the front of the box could be a little easier to do….could even make one drawer, instead of two….dug around, trimmed two boards for length..

Labeled one “T” for Top…..the other “DF” for Drawer Front….they needed jointed a bit, was a hair too wide, both of them, and a bit of a taper was removed….faces need cleaned up..

ya think? Clamp the top one in the vise..

flat and smooth….then worked on that Drawer Front….

And that should be it, as far as these two are concerned..

Junior Jack and a Smoother….time to put them away, for now…

As the next plane needed will be the Stanley 45….we have grooves and rebates to do….once the corner joints are done….

Stay tuned….
