« Part 7: Panel raising Part 8 of Dealing with a blank wall series Part 9: Door #2 done...problems arise »

or two…
Was thinking of a way to clamp the corners …flat…Settled on a couple wooden pads, and a c clamp for each corner..went to the shop (on a Monday?) and made a bunch of pads up..

Just scraps of cedar, cut into pads just big enough to cover the corner joint….all the glue goes into that corner…
So…tried this method out…3rd hand to help hold the stile still, long enough..

Spread some glue…add the two pads and a c clamp I had preset..

Ok,,, check for square, and IF the joint was closed up….(had two corners, where I needed a thin scrap filler, to fill out the corner better)then rotate and do the other rail….then move over to the tablesaw ( largest assembly space in the shop) and slide the panel into place…

Trying to keep things square…..then add the other stile….however, I needed a group of F style clamps…to pull the corners in a bit..

With the c clamps all facing the same direction, they provided a stand-off, to allow the other clamps access…

Corner details…..let this door sit a day….before the clamps came off, again….then glue and clamp Door #2..

Although, I did add one more clamp down the center….letting this dry a day….while I work on Door #1 a bit..

Checked for square? it was close..

Rails had shifted a hair….plane and beltsander to fix….

Then, lay the door down on the bench….fill and sand things smooth..

And set this aside…while waiting on Door #2 to come out of the clamps…

It’s sitting down on the floor, in front of the cabinet’s case….

Found a few knobs, that I might try out…

Might be too small, might be too big…..just drill a hole, and glue them in?
We’ll see…may go with a latch instead….

Stay tuned…Door #2 is about ready to come out of it’s forest of clamps…

The C-clamps with scraps of wood to hold the corners together was the missing ingredient when I was gluing up the door for my little water heater cabinet. Guess I’ll have to order a handful of c-clamps now.
