Sorted through all the leftovers….found a couple to make a lid from…but, they wanted to be Hunting Bows instead…We have ways…
Just let them “chill” in there, for a day or three….each closed the others curve down flat….more sorting..all the large ugly knots are now gone….needed a pair of long and a pair of shorts…to do a couple glue-ups..
And, set these aside for a day..
After a day or so…they came out of the clamps….they were then trimmed for square…once I figured out what size the ends of the box were to be…
Cleaned up the glue joints, smoothed out the rough sawn faces….and set up a bevel gauge…
About a 10/12 pitch? Then clipped the peaks a bit, and did a final smoothing…
The clipped peak? Peak will get an Oak Ridge Beam….which I also had to plane smooth…
As a handle and a pair of latches will get attach to it….Oak hold screws better than Cedar…
Which left 2 sides to smooth out their rough faces..
And the 2 wide, and 2 narrow strips to make the lids….had to joint an edge or two, before..
And let the glue cure a day or three….as for the 2 sides…and ends…
Next time in the shop…I try to get a few dovetails done….
Stay tuned…
