« Part 5: While waiting on the laundry.. Part 6 of Boxes from Red Cedar series Part 7: Out of the clamps, onto the Dinning Room Table? »

Sounds like a plan? Start a load of Laundry, work on dovetails….maybe a glue up while the load is in the dryer?

Got out the usual suspects..

Do a bit of layout….pins first…

Saw the pins…

about 6-8 full strokes…to go 1/4” in depth….then chop the waste..

Ooops, at least THAT will be on the inside….why I always start the chops on the show side….use the pins to lay out the tails…cut the tails with the bandsaw…I can see a lot better where the blade is going. I leave as much of the line as I can…cutting on the waste side of the lines….then a dry fit or two..

Just when I thought I was getting the hang of these things….corner #3..happened…..by the time I got it straightened out…it was now #4…and a new #3 was done….pins were bass-ackwards…but worked for #4…more dry fitting..

Is it a good sign, when you need a mallet to assemble a dry fit? Got the base over to the bench….Washer was almost done..

making sure the sides will match the base….clothes into the dryer….glue cauls and clamps…

cauls to spread the clamps across the tails…

Fun part….operating a c clamp with one hand, while holding the rest of the parts in place…..needed 3 hands, only had 2….some cussing was involved….

Dryer was about done….will let the glue sit a day…..and hauled the hamper full of warm, dry clothes up the stairs..

Stay tuned….(do you like the view of my little shop?)
