Ok…wasn’t real happy with the Box/Finger joints….decide to try through dovetails instead….I was going to use that old Scroll saw…but…
results weren’t the best….would prefer something like this..
Got out the Usual Suspects…
There is something about that circled tool? The pointy end, actually? Seems that angled cut matches what angle I use for dovetails….makes layouts a lot easier. However, this is an older model….the newer ones?
Are cut at 45 degrees…..not what I need….Usual layouts..
had one corner where I had the pins..bass-ackwards….trimmed those off…matched the rest of the parts to that size…
Selection of chisels, to chop out the waste…
All 4 corners done, and the top and bottom panels cut almost to the right size….a glue-up was done….let the glue dry for almost a day…then I got bored sitting around…soooo.
removed the clamps…squared up the 4 sides…cleaned things up. Set up the rip fence..
Sliced the lid off. Then a plane to remove the sawmarks. Let this sit a day, while I go out shopping…..need hardware, need brushes, need groceries….need bills paid….wasn’t much shoptime…
Decided to do something about the hinges on Box #1…
Too big, crooked, split needs repaired…..we can do better…
Stay tuned…
