« Part 11: Day #12.... Part 12 of Blanket Chest Project series Part 13: Day 15... »

As day 13 consisted of making sure nothing in the shop would be on the floor, in case the Gulley-Washer of a Thunderstorm made the creek through the shop rise, again….So

Day 14: had to get the chest down off of the tablesaw, where it was sitting ON the glued up lid blank…plan was to sand it down to 120 grit….the WAS the plan….decided to change the bit in the Craftsman Router from a dovetail to a cove bit…

And work my way around all four sides….the feet were a bit tricky..

Sanding drum on the Dremel blended things out…thing is ON the bench, though..

BTW….I found where that one screw had gone a bit too deep….ground the 1/4” that was sticking though the cleat..off. set this thing back onto the floor, out of the way…had to remove the lid blank from the cauls and clamps..

Well, between the beltsander ( NEW belt, too) and the old jack plane..

Worked to get things close to flat….not perfect…just close….Ends were too long, and looked a bit ragged..

Jig set up, for the SKIL saw to trim the ends square, and to length needed…next?

I have a DeWalt #619 set up with a straight bit….idea is to mill a tongue for the bread board’s groove to fit onto..Mill one face, then rotate, mill the next..

Rotate the lid end for end..

I had a scrap of plywood, marked as to where the fence will set…
The grooves for the bread board ends was milled over on the tablesaw…until they were a slip fit…

Add some glue, and the clamps…

Clean up any squeeze out..and close up shop…3 hours on a Monday? Figured that was quite enough, for one day

Stay tuned…

I like the look of the cove-bit around the edges. And it looks like you’ve got a lid now.

OMG bandit that’s not just one power tool I see you using but, hey two.

Wow! somethings wrong there not your usual method.

I better ask Candy to drop by and take a Check up visit.

You must be feeling unwell! ... we cannot have that.

Otherwise “Lookin Good” yep cove work excellent!
