« Part 7: catching up, again Part 8 of Using up Leftovers series no next part

Hardware arrived 2 days ahead of schedule….then went out and bought a fresh 1/2 pint of Minwax “Gunstock” stain, and a few brushes….we have work to do…

Final sanding on the drawers, and fixed one drawer divider…then handles…

I tried that tiny bit in the eggbeater…bit got stuck….chucked into the cordless drill…continue on…little ratcheting screwdriver to driver those TINY screws, after I had rubbed the threads with that old candle…took a while…trying to center these handles, using the MK2 Eyeball…and making sure they all line up..

Next, take all them drawers out…sit the lid in the vise…install the 2 hinges on the back edge of the lid…making sure I know which way to the top of the lid….then clamp the lid to the box..

A few taps with the mallet to help center the lid…then back to a pilot hole, a candle, and that small screwdriver…hinges are installed.

Since the drawers were already out….stirred up the stain, new, clean brush that almost fit in the can…

First..inside the drawer openings, and the dividers
Next, inside the tray..

Including the underside of the lid, then close the lid and stain it..

Then the sides..

And the back of the case..

And, once all 6 drawers were stained….I then wiped everything done…and got rid of a couple “puddles”...and checked for any spots I may have missed…

Still debating on a way to use a chain..

Between the lid and the side of the tray….any screws big enough, are usually too long…would rather they not poke through the 1/4” thick boards…

Maybe later today, I might get a coat of clear gloss varnish on the Tool Box?
Stay tuned…
