« Part 3: Sunday, Busy Sunday.. Part 4 of Using up Leftovers series Part 5: Catching things up »

Ok, after Lunch Break….I finished the 2 dados on the case’s bottom panel…

There was a problem….these were to be on the OTHER side of the panel….not a deal breaker, but…sheesh. At least the sides will sit on a shelf, rather than the plywood panel….The Pine panel was next…it goes between the drawers, so, I can do both faces, no problem, right?

Things were a bit thin…panel is already 1/4” thick…

Dados: Tablesaw makes a series of cuts across the grain…then the Stanley 71-1/2 removes all the waste…and just to the depth needed, too.

These are how the drawer fronts are shaping up….that long strip is not a drawer…it is the front of the top compartment. ( more on that, later..)

Ash panel is to be the floor of that compartment….but, also needed 2 dados milled. There are dividers that will slide into these dados, to separate the drawers, and guide them in…dry fit?

Looking at the bottom of the case. Trying to get the slide-in dividers cut to size….

Last chore for Sunday? A few cuts for a plywood back panel…

The ends will get a rebate, as well as along the bottom edge..dry fit?

After a dado for the Pine panel, and a rebate for the Ash panel….still needed 2 more dados?

There, maybe that’s enough..try again?

Will need a few cauls to hold it down, until the glue cures….those are not Ash feet sticking out…

Front and back of the case get an Ash strip, to make the storage compartment “box”....
Left this sit until Tuesday….second 2 hour stint is done…and I am whopped….

Stay tuned…Tuesday, we spread a bit of glue around….
