« Part 1: Why a box? Part 2 of Block plane box series Part 3: Box #2 »

At this rate, it might be Labor Day when the last one is done…..IF I don’t buy any more of the little things..

Went with a wider chisel, fewer fingers to do. Instead of 1/8”, now about 1/4” wide…..matches the thickness of the Pine boards…

Bandsaw to make a lot of short cuts, easier to chop out. I can control the cuts better, and see how they look better.

All 4 corners were done, so a glue up was made, without the “topper”...then, once the sides were dry, added the topper, once it was trimmed to fit..

Let this sit overnight. This morning, out of the clamps..

Had to make sure the inner box did fit, then, needed to trim the lid a bit..

Reset the tablesaw a bit…about the thickness of that pencil….and saw the excess off…the re-check for the fit..

Intend to cove that mess on the end, with a paper label….lift the lid a bit…

And set it aside…

Make a paper label, glue that on, then a coat of Witch’s Brew…and start on the next case..

Resaw. The red area is to show where the spinning blade is. Paint, not blood. 1/4” between the fence and the blade. ran a few more 1xs through…

Cut a few sticks for around the next plane, even found a plywood bottom that will fit…

Had to fix the plane….was missing the pin for the eccentric adjuster….

4 sides ready for the joinery to begin….stay tuned…

Might be a day or two….before the next episode…..need to heal up a bit, first.

Labels have been printed out, trimmed to fit, and glued onto the lid….then a coat of Witch’sBrew brushed onto the bare pine areas. Will post a bit later today…I hope…how THAT turned out.

Just a box for a block plane..

Did not have to trim a lot off the bottom of the lid…

Can set this box aside…

Depending on how the knee feels, I might get started on the next one….or two…

Might even have a bit of work for that Stanley #3 to do….
