no previous part Part 1 of Mitre Box, a rehab story series Part 2: 2 soakings, new decking..wire troubles »

before I can work on the bench, I need to clean it off…even the cleaned up bits..

Needed to leave this “A.O.”
because a mess like this, just won’t do..

Messy? Ehhh, could be…

give me a few minutes, though….

Even the tool well. Ok..picked a Mitre Box and Saw the other day….$15…had to remove the saw, to make carrying it around a little better..

Saw itself is a Disston, 4” x 26”, No. 4 Mitre saw. Says so, right in the etch..

Apparently a Mr. L. Millice owned this saw..

The Mitre Box had 4 patent dates. all from 1904..

Seemed to be complete…missing one depth stop ( had one in the spares box) and this…

Ooops. I did have a replacement thumbscrew, also in the spares box. Didn’t find the “leveling bolt”, not a biggie..

Both of the stock rests, and the stock holders were there…

Along with an “extra” deck….which will be tossed out…

Stock rest…used mainly for cutting crown molding….it does have other uses, though..
Well, that is a start….Swing arm was a bit stuck, gave it a PBblaster soak, for about an hour…
stay tuned…
